Amendment C211 (Whittlesea)

The project area for the Mernda Rail Extension Project was incorporated into the Whittlesea Planning Scheme through Amendment C205 via the Mernda Rail Extension Project Incorporated Document, November 2016. The current amendment seeks to facilitate the additional loss of native vegetation in land adjacent to the approved project area that will arise from significant impacts associated with encroachment of Tree Retention Zones and/or Structural Root Zones from the development of the rail corridor. Impacts to these trees represent a safety risk to the community and future operations of the rail corridor. In addition, the Amendment provides for access to land for temporary construction activities.

How to object or make a submission

Your next step if this rezoning affects you. Submissions are how the decision-maker hears from the community.

  1. 1 Rezonings happen through planning scheme amendments under the Planning and Environment Act 1987. The council exhibits the amendment and invites submissions.
  2. 2 Make a written submission to the council during the exhibition period, stating whether you support or oppose the amendment and why.
  3. 3 If unresolved submissions remain, they are referred to an independent planning panel, where submitters can be heard before the council decides.

General information about the public submission process, not legal advice. Confirm the current process and deadlines with the council or the official source before acting.
