Amendment C051 (Wodonga)

Apply a Public Use Zone (PUZ) to the land forming the route for the rail bypass in the Wodonga Planning Scheme. It introduces a revised Schedule to Clause 52.17 to exempt the project from the need to obtain a permit for the removal of native vegetation and removes the Public Acquisition Overlay (PAO8) from the Scheme. This amendment facilitates a key strategic initiative of the Wodonga Planning Scheme as part of the process toward the eventual relocation of the Melbourne to Sydney rail line from Central Wodonga. The amendment will enable the Victorian Government to commence the process of construction works for the proposed rail assets as part of the next stage of the Wodonga Rail Project involving the rail relocation and redevelopment of the Wodonga Central Business Area.

How to object or make a submission

Your next step if this rezoning affects you. Submissions are how the decision-maker hears from the community.

  1. 1 Rezonings happen through planning scheme amendments under the Planning and Environment Act 1987. The council exhibits the amendment and invites submissions.
  2. 2 Make a written submission to the council during the exhibition period, stating whether you support or oppose the amendment and why.
  3. 3 If unresolved submissions remain, they are referred to an independent planning panel, where submitters can be heard before the council decides.

General information about the public submission process, not legal advice. Confirm the current process and deadlines with the council or the official source before acting.
