Amendment C030 (Whittlesea)
Incorporate the Mernda Strategy Plan into the Scheme. The Plan represents a major planning initiative for both the City of Whittlesea and the northern metropolitan region and will provide an integrated planning framework for sustainable growth for an estimated 35 000 new residents. The Plan addresses both the residential open space and employment needs of the growth area and the infrastructure and other development needs required to service the area. The Plan also seeks to recognise and protect the unique environmental and cultural values of the Plenty Valley| Rezones the area identified as the Mernda Town Centre to a Comprehensive Development Zone. Further zoning changes are proposed to rationalise some of the boundaries of the Strategic Plan area and include Bridge Inn Road within a Road Zone Category 2| Various changes to the Planning Scheme Overlays are also proposed including changes to the Development Plan Overlay inclusion of new Heritage Overlays the introduction of a new Design and Development Overlay and correction of the Public Acquisition Overlay.
