Amendment C018 (Greater Geelong)

Authorisation No A439 The land affected by the amendment consists of an overall area of approximately 63.2 hectares located approximately 4.5 kilometres to the west of Geelong on the Moorabool escarpment and west across to the Moorabool River flood plain. The eastern boundary of the site abuts the outer Geelong suburb of Hamlyn Heights which presently defines the western extent of residential development within Geelong. The eastern boundary also defines the highest point within the site. The land then slopes down to the Moorabool flood plain. Rezone part of the subject land from Rural Zone to Residential 1 Zone and Public Conservation and Resource Zone | Introduce a Land Subject to Inundation Overlay over part of the land and a Development Plan Overlay over all of the land except where there is a Public Acquisition Overlay | and Modify (by reduction) land currently subject to an Environmental Significance Overlay 1 to coincide with land that is below the 1 in 100 year flood level.

How to object or make a submission

Your next step if this rezoning affects you. Submissions are how the decision-maker hears from the community.

  1. 1 Rezonings happen through planning scheme amendments under the Planning and Environment Act 1987. The council exhibits the amendment and invites submissions.
  2. 2 Make a written submission to the council during the exhibition period, stating whether you support or oppose the amendment and why.
  3. 3 If unresolved submissions remain, they are referred to an independent planning panel, where submitters can be heard before the council decides.

General information about the public submission process, not legal advice. Confirm the current process and deadlines with the council or the official source before acting.
