Amendment C009 (Murrindindi)

The amendment: Amends Clause 21.09 Natural Resource Management Strategies Introduces a new natural resource management policy into Clause 22.04 titled Floodplain Management| Replaces the current Floodway Overlay and Land Subject to Inundation Overlay mapping with updated mapping for both of these overlays| Replaces the Floodway Overlay and Land Subject to Inundation Overlay schedules| Replaces the current Wildfire Management Overlay mapping with updated mapping approved through the Murrindindi Municipal Fire Prevention Committee and designated by Murrindindi Shire as Bushfire Prone Areas under the Building Act 1993| Includes a new incorporated document titled Murrindindi Shire Local Floodplain Development Plan Precinct of Goulburn River June 2002 Wildfire Management Overlay: Under the Wildfire Management Overlay a planning permit is required to construct a building or construct or carry out works associated with land uses that are likely to increase the number of people in areas where the fire intensity level of wildfire is significant and likely to pose a threat to life and property. A planning permit is also required to subdivide land. These controls seek to ensure that development includes specified fire protection measures and does not significantly increase the threat to life and property from wildfire. The WMO sets out a series of objectives and outcomes for buildings and works associated with specific uses and for subdivision. A planning permit application must demonstrate that the objectives and outcomes have been considered and incorporated in the proposal. The objectives and outcomes for buildings and works relate to: water supply and connections access for emergency vehicles design and siting of buildings and works vegetation (minimisation of ground fuel). The objectives and outcomes for subdivision relate to: protective features (design siting and layout) access (public and private) for emergency vehicles and evacuation water supply (for land holders and emergency services) public open space (as a fuel management buffer) vegetation management.
